Next Nature Mural

The Meaning Behind Our Mural

Our mural is the result of a nearly three-year collaboration between Fix Salon owners Juliet Pae and Shauna Salter and artist Scott Takes. Together, we created a piece that reflects the values, creativity, and philosophy behind our salon.

Inspired by the concept of "Next Nature," coined by philosopher Koert van Mensvoort, the mural explores the relationship between humanity, technology, and our connection to the natural world. It was intentionally designed to be experienced in person, inviting visitors to pause, be present, and reconnect with themselves.

Every element tells part of the story:

  • Medusa symbolizes feminine strength, resilience, and transformation. Her likeness was inspired by Lucille Ball, honoring a meaningful connection that emerged during the mural's creation.

  • Saturn represents discipline, responsibility, and perseverance—the foundation on which Fix Salon was built.

  • The Galaxy reflects limitless possibility, personal growth, balance, and the positive energy we strive to cultivate within our team and community.

  • The Hidden Jackalope is a playful optical illusion tucked behind the building, reminding us to embrace curiosity, imagination, and not take life too seriously.

More than a mural, this piece is a reflection of our belief that beauty, creativity, and human connection are worth slowing down for.
